( 130 )Founded in Anaheim, California, in 1966, The Van Doren Rubber Company, now known as Vans, represents the most subversive footwear silhouette in the world. Recognized globally for the support by the skateboarding community, Vans gained reliance on waffle soles and canvas construction within the street culture, thanks mainly to three models: Old Skool, Sk8-Hi, and Slip-On. Over the years, Vans became the symbol of rebellion in such different contexts, punk, metal, and rock bands, and for some comparison in cinema (“Fast Times at Ridgemont High, with Sean Penn).
